OVERTAKE upgrade priority

Spend cash on parts that change a pass, then worry about paint.

OVERTAKE Upgrade Priority

OVERTAKE’s garage is two different shops glued together. Cosmetics (rims, camber, horn, paint, plates, underglow, wrap) were available at launch. Performance (engine, transmission, suspension, brakes) sat locked until the Tuning update around February 2026. If you still spend like it is launch week, you will own a glowing hatch that cannot pass a van.

This page is the spending order that matches the tier list: make the car you already have faster in a straight gap, then make it stable, then make it pretty. It assumes you already picked a chassis on starter cars and can start from neutral per manual transmission.

Priority 0 — do not skip the free multipliers

Before any part:

  • Redeem live codes. Like-milestone codes have paid 100,000 cash.
  • Join the EMZ Games group or hold Roblox Premium for the 10% cash boost. Both are listed on official links.
  • Decide if VIP (50% cash, tag, 25,000 grant) is worth it for your hours. Run cash boost math on a 100k code before you open the performance tab.

A 10% or 50% rate is an upgrade that applies to every later part. Buying a wrap first is paying extra for a sticker.

Priority 1 — engine

Engine is the first performance row that changes overtaking. More pull in the mid-range is what lets you take a gap that a stock B-tier car has to wait on. Buy engine in steps you can feel. If a tier does not change how you leave a cluster, stop and drive another loop instead of rage-clicking the next level.

Do not max engine on a C-tier hatch you will replace this week. One merge-speed step is enough, then save for B-tier. Pack cars (BULL Devious, CHARRIOT M8, JDM) still want engine first — the Muscle Pack and JDM Pack are keys, not max tunes. Pack cash hits engine before camber.

Priority 2 — gearbox and drivetrain

Highway overtakes are gear problems as much as horsepower problems. A tall gear that bogs out of a lift will lose a pass you already set up. Shorten the gears you actually use in traffic, not a fantasy 400 km/h pull.

Keep auto clutch on while you test gearbox steps. If you stall more after a gearbox buy, you went too short for your current engine, or you started in the wrong gear. Re-read manual transmission before you refund the idea of tuning in your head — there is no refund, only the next cash loop.

Transmission upgrades also help restarts after crashes, which is how you keep farming. A car that needs a perfect first-gear launch is a worse farm tool even if the top speed card looks higher.

Priority 3 — brakes and suspension

Brakes matter when you abort a pass, not when you pose for a thumbnail. Buy brakes once you are hitting traffic at B-tier speeds. Suspension is for keeping the car straight after a bump or a dirty cut. Neither should outspend engine on a fresh account.

Camber in the cosmetic tab is not suspension. Deep negative camber for a screenshot will not help a 15-player mix and can make the car feel vague. Set camber after the car already passes; treat it as style.

Priority 4 — cosmetics, color, radio

Paint, wrap, plates, underglow, horn, and rims are for identity. They do not move a letter rank. Custom Color is 30 Robux. Radio is 50 Robux. Buy them with leftover Robux after VIP or packs, never instead of a drivetrain step you can feel.

Pick one wrap and stop. Then buy the next tier body when the next engine step costs more than a down payment on that car, or when you lose passes to top speed rather than stalls. Restart engine → gearbox → brakes → cosmetics. Do not carry a wrapped, stock-engine habit into S-tier shop cars. The performance tab is the product.

Cash routing examples

Example A — 100,000 from a code, no VIP. Put a starter B-tier sports car in the garage if you still drive a hatch. Dump a minority into engine. Bank the rest for gearbox after you feel the engine. Details on stretching that 100k with rates: cash boost math.

Example B — Muscle Pack 25,000. Engine on BULL Devious or CHARRIOT M8 first. Do not split 25k across two cars. Pick one pack car as your highway tool for a week.

Example C — VIP 25,000 plus 50% rate. The grant is a bump; the rate is the build. Spend the grant like Example A, then let boosted farming finish gearbox and brakes.

Client scripts that promise instant max tune skip this order and skip the account. If a part does not change how you pass a van, it can wait.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for highway runs, codes, and tuning.

What should I upgrade first in OVERTAKE?

Engine, then gearbox. Cosmetics were available at launch and still do not pass traffic. Follow this page after you pick a car on starter cars.

Were performance upgrades always in the garage?

No. Launch builds showed engine and transmission rows that were locked. The Tuning update is when those rows became the real cash sink.

Should pack cash go into wraps?

No. Muscle Pack and JDM Pack cash should hit engine on one car. Wraps do not move tier letters.

Do Custom Color or Radio help speed?

No. Custom Color is 30 Robux and Radio is 50 Robux. Spend Robux on VIP or packs if you spend at all.

When do I stop upgrading and buy a new car?

When the next engine step costs more than a serious down payment on the next tier body, or when you lose passes to top speed rather than stalls. Keep using earn cash between swaps.
