Best OVERTAKE Starter Cars

Your first OVERTAKE car is the one that lets you finish a session, not the one that looks closest to a poster. The game opened on 28 February 2025 as a 15-player highway. PC and Console can join; mobile is not supported yet. That matters for starters because you cannot “practice on the bus” — you need a body that forgives stalls on a real keyboard or gamepad.

This page sits under the tier list hub. C-tier hatches and the first B-tier sports cars are the actual starters. A-tier pack cars are optional skips, not day-one homework. If you are still reading Getting Started, stay here until you can leave the garage, start in neutral, press F, and get rolling without stalling twice in a row. The manual tutorial and controls pages cover the inputs; this page covers which chassis to put those inputs on.

What “starter” means on this highway

A starter car needs four traits:

  1. Cheap or free so a wreck does not feel like a deleted save.
  2. Predictable power so you can learn gaps instead of fighting wheelspin.
  3. A hood you can see past in third person and first person.
  4. A gearbox that pulls from a stop with auto clutch left on.

The E46-style widebody thumb is a common “I want that” screenshot. It is a later starter, not the spawn hatch. Treat it as a goal after you have cash from codes and a clean overtake line, unless you buy the JDM Pack.

C-tier: compact and hatch

The default compact is slow on a long pull and honest about it. Drive it until you can:

  • Start from neutral every time (starting in first is the usual stall).
  • Hold a lane beside traffic without ping-ponging off NPC bumpers.
  • Restart after a crash without opening the shop in panic.

Use the hatch to learn camera, radar, and speed units in settings. Skip underglow, horns, and plates. If a friend in S is waiting, do not panic-buy a sports car you will stall.

First B-tier sports car

The first shop sports car is the real starter upgrade. Buy it when:

  • You have redeemed every live code on the codes hub (like-milestone grants are often 100,000 cash).
  • You have joined the EMZ Games group or hold Roblox Premium if you want the 10% earn rate.
  • You can complete several minutes of highway without a stall.

B-tier sports cars close gaps that a hatch cannot. They still punish late braking into a van. Spend leftover cash on engine and gearbox per upgrade priority, not on a second B-tier body you will sell mentally in two days.

If the shop row is confusing, pick the car with the shortest hood and the cheapest drivetrain upgrades. A pretty Corvette-style silhouette is a later treat unless it is in a pack you already paid for.

When a pack is a starter (and when it is not)

The Muscle Pack costs 650 Robux and grants BULL Devious, CHARRIOT M8, and 25,000 cash. The JDM Pack costs 350 Robux and grants one JDM car (the public name is moderated) plus 10,000 cash. Those cars sit in A on the tier list. They are excellent second cars.

They are bad first cars if you have never used OVERTAKE’s manual flow. Pack torque makes wheelspin and missed shifts louder. If you buy a pack on minute ten, keep auto clutch on, practice in a quiet stretch, and do not treat the 25k as wrapping money.

VIP is not a car, but it is a starter economy choice: 50% cash, a tag, and 25,000 cash. VIP plus a C-tier hatch will fund B faster than a pack you cannot drive. Run the numbers on cash boost math before you tap Robux.

A first-session buying order

Use this order unless a patch rewrites the shop:

  1. Spawn hatch. Confirm controls and auto clutch.
  2. Redeem codes. Do not skip the expired list so you do not waste time on dead strings.
  3. Drive until you can restart from neutral after a crash. That is the real tutorial.
  4. Buy the cheapest B-tier sports car you can see out of.
  5. Put cash into engine / gearbox, not camber.
  6. Only then look at packs, VIP, or a shop supercar.

Custom Color (30 Robux) and Radio (50 Robux) do not belong in a starter budget. They do not pass traffic.

Mistakes that stall progress

Do not dump a 100k code into an S-tier Ferrari-style or F1-style shop car you will stall. Do not skip the group 10% on official links. Do not buy launch cosmetics (rims, camber, wrap) before Tuning performance. Do not copy a 2025 video with locked upgrade tabs — trust the live card and tuning guide.

Drive the slow car until it feels boring. That is the B-tier signal, not a prompt to open the scripts hub. Your first keeper is the car you can restart after a stall without rage-quitting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for highway runs, codes, and tuning.

What is the best free starter car in OVERTAKE?

The spawn compact or hatch. Use it to learn controls and manual starts before any shop sports car. Speed comes after you can leave neutral without stalling.

Should I spend a 100k code on a supercar?

Usually no. Put a slice into the first B-tier sports car and upgrades. Save the rest. Cash boost math shows how VIP or group rates stretch that same code.

Is the Muscle Pack a starter pack?

It is an A-tier skip, not a tutorial. Read car packs first. If you still stall in a hatch, the BULL Devious will only stall faster.

Do I need VIP before my first car upgrade?

No. Redeem codes and farm a session. Buy VIP when you already like the loop and want the 50% rate on every later hour.

Why does my starter car stall at the garage?

You are probably leaving in first instead of neutral. Follow manual transmission and keep auto clutch on in settings until shifts are automatic.

Can I play OVERTAKE on my phone to practice starters?

Not yet. OVERTAKE is PC and Console only. Mobile is not supported, so practice on a keyboard or controller using Getting Started.
